About

Ryan is a landscape photographer with a deep emotional connection to wild places and the quiet moments found within them. Photography began as a creative outlet, growing through portraits and weddings before becoming something more personal: a way to return to nature, find clarity, and preserve the feelings that arise when light, landscape, and memory meet.

Much of his work is rooted in the Canadian Rockies, where early mornings, changing seasons, frozen lakes, mountain peaks, and remote trails become more than subjects. They become chapters in an ongoing story. Ryan is drawn to places that feel timeless and honest, creating images that invite stillness and reflection. His monochrome photographs often emphasize texture, contrast, mood, and emotion, allowing the landscape's character to speak without distraction.

For Ryan, the photograph is only part of the story. The rest lives in the journey: the long drive before dawn, the hush of a frozen lake, the ache of a steep trail, the uncertainty of changing weather, and the patience required to wait for a fleeting moment of light. He hikes, paddles, skates, camps in the backcountry, and embraces difficult conditions because the experience itself becomes woven into the image. Each photograph carries not only what he saw, but also what he felt and endured to be there.
